Joe Cunningham comments: "Like many of my quilts, this came straight from a natural image. I spent a week as artist-in-residence at Asilomar, where it rained all day every day. Walking along the shore, I would look out and be unable to distinguish the horizon line between the sea and the sky--it was just all the same. When I started to work on the quilt, I felt like I was building a model of the strings that hold the universe together."
