The Art Quilt by Robert Shaw

The Art Quilt
by Robert Shaw

Art quilts, which combine quilt traditions with modern aesthetics and studio methods, are a vibrant but still underappreciated area of contemporary art. Art quilts make stunning wall displays and will warm and enliven any space where they are shown, whether a home, office, hotel, hospital, bank, school, or corporate headquarters.

This is an ideal time to collect art quilts, and we can help you find the finest artists and best pieces currently available. The works we offer are created by master artists who have worked in the quilt medium for decades. Examples of their work can be found in the collections of such major museums as the the National Museum of American Art's Renwick Gallery/Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Museum of Arts & Design in New York, the National Museums of Scotland, the Philadelphia Museum of Art,the Peabody Essex Museum, and the de Young Museum of Fine Arts in San Francisco, as well as in major private, corporate, and institutional collections around the world.

Art of the Quilt principal Robert Shaw is the author of the definitive books The Art Quilt and American Quilts: The Democratic Art and has worked as a museum and private curator for more than thirty years.

In addition to offering remarkable quilts by leading artists for sale, we also work with private collectors, corporations, and institutions to provide commissioned pieces made to fit special places and themes. Please contact us for more information about commissioning work from our artists.

We also provide an exceptional range of quilt-related services, including collection consultation and curatorial work, lectures, appraisals, and brokerage, and we offer a variety of loan exhibitions of stunning contemporary and antique quilts to museums and expositions around the world.

Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have about our artists, quilts and services. We look forward to hearing from you.
