The Best in Contemporary Quilts

Fraas and Slade's Watermarks Series was inspired by the twenty-six alphabetical signal flags of the International Code of Signals, which are used for communication between vessels at sea. In addition to their use as individual letter of the alphabet, many flags have additional specific meanings. The bold red B-Bravo flag was originally used as a warning signal by the Brutish Royal Navy when a ship was carrying explosives. Today it means, "I am taking in, or discharging, or carrying dangerous goods."
